About Idealstor
Idealstor is a complete backup system with ejectable inexpensive IDE Hard Disks allowing users to run up to 12 simultaneous backups. A single bay unit will backup to 1 TB of data rising to 8 TB with an Idealstor appliance (native format).
Idealstor uses disks like tape, giving you best of both the technologies; it offers the speed and reliability of disk and the portability of tape. Before you invest in another tape based solution, take a closer look at Idealstor, it might just be the solution you have been looking for, but until now were unable to find.
Idealstor offers a backup platform that for the first time outperforms tape drives and libraries in performance, reliability, scalability, ease of use and functionality. Idealstor can be easily deployed and is compatible with all existing major backup software. It takes away the headaches, pain and expenses normally associated with tape based backup systems and offers you peace of mind.
Reliability: Disk is inherently more reliable than tape and this appliance approach will highlight that, due to the relatively low duty cycle that these disks will be subjected to as compared to online disk arrays. Idealstor BA4U-1E
The Idealstor 1 Bay storage appliance is the base model. The 1 Bay is an ideal solution for any small business looking to backup data in the range of 100-300GB per backup. The unit allows swapping of one drive for onsite or offsite storage. The 1 Bay comes preinstalled with Windows 2000 and offers excellent performance for data recovery and backup.
Idealstor FrankeNAS
FrakenNas is a multi-functional applicance offering true Disk to Disk storage and backup. Half of its 4U capacity is RAID 5 Array of drives with capacities up to 2 TB of storage. The other half of the unit is configured with up to 4 removable Idealstor drive bays allowing for any capacity ATA drive providing up to 5.58 TB* (Formated Capacity) of removable storage.
Idealstor BA4U-2E
The Idealstor 2 Bay storage appliance is designed for the small to medium sized business who is looking for increased storage capacity coupled with the speed and flexibility provided by disk based backups. The 2 Bay has two ejectable IDE Drives that allow companies to back up and restore using two drives simultaneously over a gigabit Ethernet and 10/100 Ethernet and is capable of backing up a maximum of 1.2TB.

The Idealstor 4 Bay storage appliance was designed for the medium to large sized business that is looking to backup and restore more data faster. The storage capacity of the 4 bay can be scaled up to 2.4TB. This product comes standard with 1 Gigabit Ethernet port and 1 10/100 port providing the flexibility that is needed as storage requirements and speeds increase.
Idealstor BA4U-6E
The Idealstor 6 Bay storage appliance is the first of two products designed to handle the intense storage needs of the enterprise customer. This unit comes standard with Gigabit Ethernet and dual Intel Xeon Processors which allow for faster speeds to backup and restore. The 6 Bay is a 4U rackmount storage device running Windows 2000 Server that allows backups to 6 removable IDE drives simultaneously and is capable of up to 3.6TB of storage capacity.

Designed strictly for the Enterprise. The Idealstor 8 Bay storage appliance is a 4U rackmount storage device running Windows 2000 Server on dual Intel Xeon processors with hyper threading and a GB of error correcting code memory. The 8 Bay is designed to be the fastest and most scalable product in the Idealstor line of backup appliances. This product offers the flexibility of archiving data onto all 8 disks or can be set up in a configuration where 4 drives are taken off site and 4 remain in the unit for data cycling. This unit is designed to backup 4.8TB*.

Idealstor Teralyte
The Idealstor Teralyte was designed with the small to medium sized business in mind and for the first time offers a truly portable disk backup solution. The Teralyte combines the speed of SATA disks with the portability of tape by using disk media for both backup and offsite storage. Teralyte uses nonproprietary hard drives allowing SMB's to use any capacity/manufacturer SATA disk as locally attached removable disk backup media. These disks can then be left in the system for local storage or they can be physically removed, like a tape for offsite storage and disaster recovery.
